Updated Pantomime Scripts

Updating all 65 of our scripts on a regular basis is a mammoth task, but well worth the effort to keep them fresh and relevant.  Some of the scripts will require only minor updating, whereas others will need a much larger makeover.

Of course, simple name changes can easily be done by our customers who are at liberty to make edits and can add current names of media stars, politicians, sports stars, etc, if necessary. Larger edits by customers are allowed, but we like to be informed first about what changes you plan on making. If large edits are to be done, we ask customers to put the title, By Limelight Scripts, Adapted by, followed by the name of your group, to posters, programmes and adverts, etc

But socially acceptable words and attitudes also change, and what might once have seemed funny and acceptable, might no longer hit the mark and new lines will have to be written. That’s not to say that we believe panto should always be politically correct, far from it. But as writers, I believe it’s incumbent upon us to make sure we’re always sensitive to changes in society and to reflect those changes in our scripts, particularly when our output is primarily aimed at children and families.

Limelight Scripts always try to make sure that all our scripts are family friendly, but that doesn’t mean we can’t add plenty of stuff for adults to laugh at, which usually goes over the heads of young children, or has a double meaning, with the innocent one being the one that children usually pick up on.

We always look at how we can make our scripts even better for the people who use them, and to this end, we recently altered the font and layout of our scripts to make them more user-friendly. We have increased the font size from Arial 11pt to 12pt and increased the gaps between slightly, to make them easier to read. We also changed some icon images, to make them more eye-catching and more relevant to the story.

You’ll be pleased to know that all our scripts have been updated for 2026, so even if you’ve previously looked at a particular title and passed on it, the updated version might well be worth another look.

We both hope to watch at least three of our pantos being performed this year, so your production might be one that we decide we’d like to visit. To us, watching groups perform our scripts in person, is like paying our family a visit.
